不思議な傘

雨あめの日ひ、美香みかは古いふるい傘かさを拾いひろいましたⓘOn a rainy day, Mika picked up an old umbrella. それは普通ふつうの傘かさではなく、少しすこし不思議ふしぎな力ちからを持ってもっているようでした。ⓘIt was not an ordinary umbrella; it seemed to possess a mysterious power.

最初さいしょはただ雨あめをよけてくれただけだったのに、美香みかは試しためしに「今日きょうは少しすこし暖かくあたたかくなりたいな」とつぶやきました。ⓘAt first it only kept the rain off, but Mika tried muttering, "I wish it would get a little warmer today." すると、風かぜが止みやみ、雲くもの間あいだから太陽たいようが顔かおを出しだしたのです。ⓘSuddenly the wind stopped and the sun peeked through the clouds.

美香みかは驚きおどろきながらも、次つぎには「大切たいせつな人ひとに会いあいたい」と願いねがいました。ⓘSurprised but excited, Mika then wished, "I want to see someone important to me." その瞬間しゅんかん、道みちの向こうむこうから、五年ごねんぶりに連絡れんらくが途絶えとだえていた母親ははおやが走ってはしってきました。ⓘAt that moment, her mother—who she hadn't heard from in five years—came running toward her from across the street. 二ふた人りは泣きなきながら抱き合いだきあい、傘かさは静かしずかに地面じめんに落ちおちていました。ⓘThe two embraced, crying, while the umbrella quietly fell to the ground. 美香みかはその後あと、傘かさを大切たいせつに家いえに持ち帰りもちかえりましたが、二度にどと願いねがいをかけませんでした。ⓘMika took the umbrella home, but she never made another wish with it again.
