How FasterLang works
Ten minutes a day: read, tap, review, write. Here’s what happens under the hood.
1. Pick or generate a text
Open the library and filter by language, level (A1–C2, with JLPT, HSK, TOPIK, DELF or CILS equivalents) and topic. Can’t find what you want? In the reader, choose a language, level, topic and length, optionally describe what you’d like (“a short mystery set in a ramen shop”), and the AI writes it in seconds. Members can generate up to 8 new texts per day (more as you level up). Every generated text joins the shared library.
2. Tap any word
Each text is split into words with readings — furigana for Japanese, pinyin for Chinese, romanization for Korean, Thai and Hindi. Tap a word to see its meaning in this context, its dictionary form, part of speech, conjugation and usage notes. Answers are cached: if anyone has looked up that word in that sentence before, you get it instantly.
3. Ask why
Tap ✨ next to a sentence for a deep explanation: natural and literal translation, a chunk-by-chunk breakdown, grammar patterns, nuance and common mistakes. You can also get an overview of the whole text with key vocabulary and a short quiz.
4. The community checks the AI
Every translation, explanation and text has a vote button. With 3 net up-votes it becomes ✓ Community verified, with 10 it becomes ★ Gold example, and items with more down- than up-votes are flagged ⚠ Needs review. Spotted a mistake? Suggest a correction. When other members up-vote it (or a moderator accepts it), your version replaces the AI answer for everyone — and you earn +30 XP.
5. Keep what you learn
Save words with ☆ and they become flashcards scheduled with spaced repetition (SM-2): you see each card just before you would forget it. Review them in My words.
6. Write and talk
Post a short journal entry in the community and native speakers will correct it, showing exactly what changed. Correct entries in your own native language to help others. Find a language partner, ask questions in the forum, or book a tutor.
XP, streaks and badges
Most actions earn XP — reading, reviewing, correcting, helping. Set a daily goal (10–80 XP), keep a streak alive by earning XP every day (streak freezes cover a missed day), and climb the weekly leaderboard. The full XP table is on your progress page.
