Every year at Diwali time I return to my village. This time Grandmother had called me in advance because she could not light the lamps alone.
The two of us cleaned the house together, made rangoli patterns and prepared sweets. In the evening when the sun set we lit all the lamps. In their yellow light the whole village looked like gold.
Grandmother said, “Child, remember that Diwali is not just about lights, but a festival that connects hearts.”
