On Lantern Festival evening, a light rain was pattering down. Li Wei held an oil-paper umbrella and arrived at the lively lantern fair.
Colored lanterns hung high, and under them people were guessing riddles with continuous laughter. She approached a red lantern with a riddle paper pasted on it. The riddle read: “One family reunited eating tangyuan, yet one person is missing.” 李薇想了想,笑着说:“答案是月亮吧?”Li Wei thought for a moment and said with a smile, “The answer is the moon, right?”
卖灯笼的老爷爷眼睛一亮,点头道:“姑娘真聪明!”The old man selling lanterns lit up and nodded, saying, “Young lady, you’re really smart!” He took out a bowl of steaming hot tangyuan from under the lantern and said, “I prepare this every year. My son works away from home and cannot return every Lantern Festival. So I use this riddle to remind myself: although one person is missing, our hearts are still reunited.”
Li Wei took the tangyuan, and her heart suddenly felt warm.
